Why Families Choose a Pediatric Specialist

A general dentist sees patients of every age. A pediatric specialist sees only children - and is trained for exactly the things parents worry about.

Anxious kids are our specialty.

Kid-sized chairs, kid-paced conversations, and clinicians who explain every step before it happens. The first visit is built to be easy so the next one is even easier.

Special needs care.

Quiet rooms, longer appointments, sensory-friendly tools, and sedation options when they help. Tell us what your child needs and we'll plan around it.

One specialist, two specialties.

Dr. Isfeld is dual-trained in pediatric dentistry AND orthodontics. If your child's smile needs both, they don't need two practices.

Insurance shouldn't be a homework assignment.

We direct-bill most private insurance, accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), and explain coverage in plain language before treatment.

Common Questions From Parents

When should my child first see a dentist?

The Canadian Dental Association recommends the first dental visit by age one, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits build trust and catch small issues before they grow.

Do you accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?

Yes. Rivers Edge is a CDCP-participating provider and direct-bills the plan for eligible patients. We also direct-bill most private insurance.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is required for any of our pediatric dental, orthodontic, or surgical services.

Can you help if my child is anxious about the dentist?

Yes. We adjust the pace and offer nitrous oxide, oral sedation, or in-clinic general anesthesia depending on what each child needs.

Do you treat children with special needs?

Yes. Appointment length, environment, and sedation strategy are adjusted to each child. Tell us when you book and we will plan around your child.

How long is the wait for a first appointment?

There is no wait list. New patient appointments are typically available within days, and in-clinic dental surgery under general anesthesia is scheduled without a hospital wait.
