Pediatric Restorative Dentistry - Fillings, Crowns & Gentle Repairs

When a tooth needs help, the goal is to fix it once, fix it well, and fix it in a way your child can handle. Tooth-coloured fillings, durable crowns for baby and permanent teeth, and the right sedation for kids who need it.

What We Restore

Tooth-coloured fillings

Composite fillings that match the natural tooth - no metallic look, strong bond, comfortable for the bite.

Crowns for baby teeth

Stainless-steel or tooth-coloured crowns when a baby tooth is too damaged for a filling but needs to stay until the adult tooth comes in.

Crowns for permanent teeth

Modern, durable crowns for permanent teeth in older kids and teens that have had significant damage or root canal treatment.

Trauma & broken-tooth repair

Sports injuries, falls, and accidents. We rebuild the tooth where possible and protect what is left.

Comfort, the Way Kids Actually Need It

Restorative work can be the moment a kid decides whether the dentist is scary or fine. We plan visits around your child.

Gentle local anesthetic

Topical numbing first, slow injection, and constant explanation of what is happening so nothing is a surprise.

Sedation when it helps

Nitrous oxide or oral sedation for kids who need extra support. See Sedation & Anesthesia.

One-visit treatment under GA

For kids with multiple cavities, doing everything in one visit under in-clinic general anesthesia is often kinder than many short visits.

Restorative Care FAQs

Are your fillings tooth-coloured?

Yes. Composite tooth-coloured fillings are the default. Silver amalgam is not used.

Why would a baby tooth need a crown?

A baby tooth with significant decay or breakage often needs a crown to stay strong until the adult tooth comes in and to hold space for it.

Will my child need sedation for a filling?

Usually no. Most fillings use gentle local anesthetic only. Sedation is offered when a child needs extra support or has several restorations.

How long does a filling visit take?

About 30 to 45 minutes from check-in to walking out for a single filling.

Does the Canadian Dental Care Plan cover restorative care?

Yes - fillings, crowns, and related restorative services are covered for CDCP-eligible patients, with direct billing.
